Ilias I. Klappas

Βorn in 1968 and grew up in Piraeus. Graduate of the 9th General Lyceum of Piraeus. Studied at the Law Department of the Law School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), graduating with the highest GPA in his graduation line. 

Master of Laws in Public International Law and postgraduate studies with scholarship in Human Rights Law; specialization studies in History of Literature.

Served as a research associate at the Department of International Studies of the NKUA Law School.

Carried out an intership at the Legal Directorate of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. 

Attorney at Law entitled to plead before the Supreme Court, heading a Law Office in Nikaia, Attica. Member of the Piraeus Bar Association since 1992, with constant participation in the Association Committees including the Editorial Committee of the law journal "Piraeus Case Law". Engaged in tutoring Seminars to Piraeus Trainee Lawyers, in the fields of Civil Law and Civil Procedural Law, and in organizing regular blood donation events for the members of the Piraeus Bar Association.

Authored legal research papers and presented studies in international scientific conferences on State Succession issues in Public International Law, mainly regarding the cases of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia dissolution, on issues of Human Rights Law, the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and the case law of the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights.

Author of many law articles and expert speaker in scientific conferences on Civil Law and Civil Liability Law in Traffic Accidents.

Elected Member of the Board of the Piraeus Bar Association for three consecutive terms (2008-2017).

President of the Piraeus Bar Association since January 2022.

Speaks English, French and Russian.

Married and father of two children.
